... storm of the trip. We organised our bus which for a 5 hour trip was a bargain. 240 baht so about 5 euro! We got food and movies and were quite confortable for the 5 hours "express" trip, which of course means stopping and every Tom, Dick and Harry's house along the way. We arrived about 12 30, survived lightning almost hitting the bus and stayed at a nice Thai guest house. We were happy to finally arrive!
Next morning we got on the ferry, again ...
... should be fun times the next couple of days. They did a great job today. I'm so proud of what they have accomplished this year! Friday evening I will be heading down to Kuala Lumpur and then Saturday morning to Kota Kinabalu. So you won't have an update next weekend and probably not the following weekend either. I get back to Bangkok around 5pm on Sunday the 19th...Looking forward to sharing my Borneo experiences with all of you! ::HUGS::
Koh Chang, Thailand ii_ja_aa... common area which means that if you have problems sleeping when it's light or noisy then you won't get any sleep here - just like I didn't :( They've confirmed that the boat from the Cambodian border to Shianoukville isn't running this year, so if we head that way we'll have to do it by bus or mini-bus. Following in a day old tradition, we ate at the night market - noodle soup and garlic prawns with a beer for a mere 140B, not fully as ...
Koh Chang, Thailand tomfroehle... I use that term very loosely!!) with the ancient keyboard balanced on my lap. Typos are the least of my worries! Also apologies for no photos - but I can't seem to find a computer that has a USB port to plug the cameras into. Plus the internet connection is like a step back into the 80's when we used 14k modems!
Have also just read the NZ headlines... I see there have been heavy rains in the Bay of Plenty area. What a shame ;-)
... another night there on my way to Cambodia (which is definitely happening now). Once again I slept poorly last night. The Chang was making it's way through me like you would not believe and regular trips to a shared bathroom is enough to keep the best sleeper awake. Wayne was knocking on my door at 8, giving me enough time to grab a quick breakfast before hitting the street on our way to Ko Chang. We managed to hitchhike our ...
Ko Chang, Thailand --frank--So, the next morning, after breakfast we threw our bags onto the roof of a waiting pick up and climbed aboard for a 45 minute drive to the harbor where we'd catch the ferry to Ko Chang. I was the last to get onto the back of the pickup so was balanced on 6 inches of plastic seating with my legs dangling over the back of the sangthaw watching the tarmac fly beneath me. Jo was comfortably ensconced in the safety of the ...
Koh chang, Thailand tjwanderer... aligned photo tag: It turned out to be a small, very clean bungalow on the beach. I have a small deck out front where I sit in the evening and listen to the waves, enjoy the light breeze and read my book. I like it here so I decided to stay and relax a couple of days. I met with Peter, Bob and Taang Mo in the morning and we traveled around the Island, again at no charge! The resorts here are beautiful but quieter than those on Ko Chang. I was on the beach ...
Trat, Thailand chattynatty... being used a tad euphemistically as there was nary a sauna, spa or room service in sight. However, if the word, for you, brings to mind thoughts of long bouts of navel-gazing followed by well-deserved naps, peace and quiet, solitude bordering on sensory deprivation and lazy days followed by lazier nights then you wouldn’t argue with the label.
We booked a lovely little cabin that boasted perhaps the hardest mattress in all of Thailand.
It wasn’t mentioned ...
