... next 6 weeks or so. Ah the open road - how wonderful, we have the road to ourselves - we make the most of it knowing that once we pick up the hire care in the UK it will be wall to wall, 3 lanes of mayhem as everyone outdoes themselves in a bid to get to the next snarl up first. We stop at Jugiong for a lovely lunch outside. It is a beautiful day - the sun is shining and there is still a crispness in the air. George has a welcome stretch, shake ...

... daily admin involved in setting up our lives here, we also enjoyed a Sunday afternoon drive down south along the coast to Thirroul. It was lovely to revisit (by car) the stunning Sea Cliff Bridge and the coastal hill climbs we experienced on our final day of the cycling tour into Sydney last December. After hearing that one of our all time favourite singers was coming to Australia but not NZ, for a one off show, my cousin Bek and I decided we couldn't miss it for the world. And so here we are, finally getting to travel together in Sydney. It was a crazy early start for us, with a 2am wake-up call and 6.45am flight out of Auckland. We made it to the airport with no dramas and after a 30 minute delay we were on our way. Unfortunately ...

After Kate drove us to Broadmeadow, we caught the 12.40 train to Central and onto the Domestic Terminal at Sydney Airport. Plenty of Virgins for Bob to gaze at while we waited. Smooth flight to Cairns, arriving 20 minutes early at 9.30pm. Met by Patrick who drove us to our hotel. It's 23 degrees and quite muggy. Cairns is in 'ironman' mode for the race tomorrow. I've included some shots of the 'scooters' at Wallsend last ...

... what would have been the spitting image of a Gallagher I have no doubt! The following evening we headed out for food and drinks in Surry Hills with the extended group from home - Becky, Dan, Emma, Abi, Sam, Taylor, Eleanor & a second Emma who was visiting from home. The decision was made to go for Mexican which left me personally a little disappointed - with Vicky's super culinary skills for Mexican cuisine I wasn't sure this could be topped! ...
