... a fair few coffee shops, but most of them are of the take out variety rather than the sit-in kind you get in Amsterdam. I was also in too apathetic mood to put in the effort to get into an even more apathetic state. More than anything I need sleep.

I also passed a few chickens on the road. It must've gotten lost on the way to KFC.

... have photo in traditional dress with Louise. A headed back and dropped Louise at her hotel, went back to our apartment and went for a sortie of the local attractions. On Friday I made an early start and headed to the Krijnen's home town of Breda, an hour and a half by train to the east of The Hague. My ultimate destination was Bouvigne castle a little way out of town where my grandfather grew up (in the gate house mind you), so after checking out the town centre, picking up some fresh berries from the markets and having a look at the local gothic church, I hired a bike and headed of for the castle. ... and the play of shadows and light. The level of detail is especially striking in the many paintings of dead fowl - yuck. The Anne Frank House is stark, moving and very well done. The museum uses the house next door for additional display space so you easily flow from Anne's house via a series of passageways and stairs to the rest of the museum. Day 2

IJmuidenWe set our clocks forward an hour last night when we went to bed. Had a good nights sleep and didn't wake until 9am.

We ventured to the Grill/Veranda restaurant for breakfast, a less formal restaurant than Pole to Pole and the sun is shining so there is a lovely warm & happy atmosphere everywhere.
