Fethiye, Turkey (FET ee UH)
Fethiye is a coastal city with a nice harbor. It's also got some Lycian ruins in town. Just above the city in the hills, there are some nice ...
... stunning coves and turquoise waters, up into the hills and pine plantations, through local villages and then back to the coast at Fethiye.
Staying at a hotel above the yacht marina and port which is huge and has some incredibly expensive and enormous yachts and motor launches, a lot of which are covered for winter. The population is about 80,000, and it's a big tourist spot for British people apparently, and obviously a prosperous and modern city.

We lunched on the way but by the time we came into Sarsola at 4.30 pm the rain lashed down but the luxury of the covered deck allowed us to enjoy our G&Ts in comfort while watching the rain. We hope to see the pretty bay in the sunshine in the morning. Simon went for a run up a mountain, Graham Sarah and Duncan swam in the rain and I wrote the blog and drank G&T. Jenny ...
... for a few hours. Made it to kas! At destination was a little town, wondered around the markets and had a Turkish ice cream to cool us down as we couldn't swim as we were at a dock. At 3 we started sail for smugglers bay. Once arrived we were all eager to jump off and enjoy the water. Passing a mini football around. Tonight we head to land for bit of a night out in smugglers ...

I'm hoping that we will encounter some white sandy beaches which we will pass en route through Greece on our way to Italy and I need some respite from the sun... Just one cool or (please God) rainy afternoon would be amazing!
We have some maintenance to do before we can leave Gocek which started at 8 o Clock this morning taking the mainsail off of the roller reefing for repair but its looking as though we will check out of Turkey on Thursday.
