... a really nice city, modern and everyone was very friendly. Luckily they spoke German so we did not have to master the basics of another language. Our hotel called themselves 4 stars, which was probably true 30 years ago. It was a nice, clean place but the decor and appliances were so old fashioned it was hilarious (eg, an old shoe polisher on every floor and the room had a stove top you couldn't even use). We drive back to the ship, seeing the sites of old Vienna. Many of the buildings are more than 400 years old and still in good condition. One of the newer sites is a huge ferris wheel. Nearly 220 feet tall and containing, not chairs but small cabins, the wheel is visible from all around the city.
