So glad to see the sun again when we arrived in Sorrento. The ship moored off the coast and we were tendered in to the town. A shuttle bus took us up the very windy roads and dropped us off at the end of town. From here we strolled through the streets calling in at the Duomo and another basilica. There are many shops selling the lovely pottery of the region and also the beautiful marquetry woodwork. The local ...

... one of the oldest trattoria in Ravello. You are guaranteed a fabulous day.   Tony picked us up at 9:00 am and we joined the sojourners along the spectacular coast in a totally leisurely manner. Tony's English is excellent after a 5 year stint in his youth on cruise ships, he is a totally relaxed and calm man and driver and he simply stopped wherever he knew the views were the most breath ...

... boat. After a deadly taxi ride and waiting in a line for an hour, we got into the dingy and laid down as our driver pulled us under the cave entrance. Upon entering the cave we were welcomed by a magnificent display as the light reflected and refracted through the water giving off a bright blue colour. The many Italian boat drivers also decided to serenade the tourists, singing ...

... Took about 25 mins. I have now found a bus that runs past my door and drops me in the centre of town.

Sorrento is beautiful. There was ahuge cruise ship in port so loads of Pommy tourists. The little ancient cobbled street are full of vendors selling lace, linen and limoncello. I will go back tomorrow for a better look. From the look outs you can see back to Naples, Mt Vesuvius and the islands of Procida and ...

... demos on making olive oil, fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, and how to make authentic pizza. It was an awesome meal shared with neat new friends!  We ended our evening strolling the streets of Sorrento. What's so amazing is that even at 10:00 at night, the streets are alive and vibrant with an inviting outdoor cafe around every corner. Thursday, we'll spend most of our time on the bus traveling north to Assisi. We can't wait to see what awaits ...
