Its rather funny, the way the short trip started and ended. It started when the coach we were on couldnt fit into the small lane of the hotel lobby, and had to drop us off to walk a short way in a back alley to the hotel. I think our luggages helped pull us out of any trouble with the locals who were in the dark alley going about their own business, afraid of any local rats. obviously it wasnt the very warm welcome we expected.Reviews for the new hotel was below average, but the hotel tries to...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Capitol Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Great location and value

from KJU
This hotel is in a great location in BB if you want to be close to major shopping complexes, the monorail and just short taxi away to many places. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast I thought was average but then I stayed in 4 other hotels in Malaysia afterwards and realised the Capitol was the best of them for variety.

This is not a 5 star hotel so I didn't expect 5 star treatment. But I have no complaints. The room was quite adequate and the bathroom and all was clean. For the price it is really great. Loved the location - could keep returning to hotel room with bags of shopping and go off again!! Would stay there again tomorrow!

enjoy! Karen

Capitol hotel very pleasent place to stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
My first time in KL and wanted a hotel that was reasonably modern and not too expensive. On arrival check in was very quick and efficent. The room on the 11th floor was very clean and everthing worked perfectly, also the room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. The room was cleaned to a high standard everyday during my stay.

Had breakfast at the hotel each day selection was fine but some of the hot food wasn't always hot but except for that food was acceptable.

Staff at the hotel are friendly and they gave the impression that they wanted me to enjoy my stay.

I would not have a problem staying at this hotel again as everthing was up to a suitable standard.

Good Location

We stayed at the Capitol for 2nights and although the hotel itself is old and the rooms are average it is in a great location, easy walking distance to all the shopping plaza's and right around the corner from the hawker food night stalls. There is a great shopping centre across the road called Sungei Wang Shopping Centre and Its an easy walk around the city we walked to KL Tower and the Twin Towers and Chinatown. If your looking for a different and fun night out check the Captains Cabin which is a funteque! Well worth it for entertainment! Breakfast was OK alot of Malaysian style foods. Overall location was perfect, hotel itself was average.

Good Location, Decent Value

from berklaw
We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is a good mid range option, the rooms were clean enough, although could use some refurbishing. It's in a good location, and is quiet enough (although try to get a room on the upper floors) Breakfast was good.

On our second trip to KL this year, we stayed at the affiliated, nearby, Federal Hotel, (which is supposed to be nicer), but would opt for the Capitol every time. The staff are reasonably helpful, albeit sometime misinformed (the front desk did not know that there were trains to Singapore).

However, if you are more of budget traveler, there are better deals to be had, but this hotel is a good value for its location.

"Unbelievable value"

Stayed here recently. My travel agent recommended it and they did a fabulous job! I could not have picked better myself!

We could not fault the hotel, both in location or service.

Our room was cleaned daily and the staff were very helpful.

For our first trip to KL this hotel was very suitable.

I would recommend to any other first time travellers.

Avoid at all costs!!!!

My husband and I stayed here for one night recently after spending 5 glorious nights on beautiful Langkawi Island.

It started badly with the check in staff being very rude & it took them forever to check us in.

The room was filthy, we could tell this as soon as we entered. The Bathroom had a light which hummed constantly and there was no hand towel.

The carpet had stains all over it as did the only chair in the room which had a most disgusting stain on it.

I wish I had taken photos of this dive but I was too repulsed by this room and we just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.

I did not notice until the next day that the sheets we had been sleeping in had blood stains on them. The towels were also totally dirty.

There was no internet access on our floor as had been advertised, apparently only floor 10-13 have internet available.

The TV reception was unwatchable and there was no alarm clock in the room, the windows had clearly never been cleaned.

The air conditioning was obviously broken as we could not control the temperature and we froze all night because of this. It was also very noisy air conditioning & it hummed all night long.

The only good thing about this hotel was the good location as it is very near to shops and restaurants.

We are frequent travellers and will never again stay at this hotel as it is one of the worst we have ever stayed in!

This had been booked for us by a travel agent for a wedding package, usually we research & book our own accomodation on holidays, we will definately be doing this in the future.

BE WARNED!

Good views and location

Good location with shops and eateries all in immediate vicinty. About a 10 minute walk to the nearest tube staion. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Huge choice of food to cater for all tastes at the breastfast buffet. Staff I met were not that friendly but not at all rude either. Would recommend for a short stay in KL.

We loved It

Moved from a 1-night stay from a nearby hotel to Capitol. We were so nervous when we went up in the lift to our 16th floor room, fearing we might end up with a previously disappointing experience. When my partner opened the door, he almost shouted like crazy 'cos the room is marvellous!

We got ourselves a corner room with a beautiful skyline view of KL (well, apart from the haze, the view is cool!). Nice bed, nice bathroom (with 2 showers), excellent ADSL connection ... it was perfect for our first trip together!

The room has a safe, iron & board (a must for me!), coffe & tea, fridge ... just nice for our short stay! And the location is excellent too, few steps away from a shopping complex & sidewalk cafes, KFC, etc. Complimentary breakfast is ok, not excellent but adequate.

Taxis are easily available, nearest monorail is Bukit Bintang, and about 5mins walk to Berjaya Times Square, Lot 10, etc.

Strongly recommended for everyone, and please ask for the corner room!
