Capetonian Cape Town

After our joyous reunion in Cape Town, we knew we had one goal to accomplish before leaving Africa. We had to summit Table Mountain. The first day was too rainy, so we spent the day wandering around. ... there was no one else around... so we didn't know who it belonged to. No collar of course. But he was breaking our hearts.... limping along, trying to keep up.... I just wanted to carry him! Eventually he stopped following and I think it was probably because his leg hurt too much, I felt so bad! The next morning a storm blew in (and it was departure day for us). I headed down to the beach to check it out (and got sandblasted from the wind and sand) and on the way back.... of course ...

... with everyone for a while. I went to bed around midnight. Tonight we lose another hour of sleep so in the morning I will be ten hours ahead of the east coast. It weird to think that its only 3pm back home now! Not much to write because a pretty low key day on board. Hope yall are having a good week back at home. I will be in Mauritius Friday morning and can't wait!

... good workout and when we got to the end, we weren't going to go to the light house but our friend from Switzerland was like "come on girls!". Turns out he is also going on our 21 day tour so it was great to meet someone.Next we went to an ostrich farm, which as my family knows, I hate birds! So I made Alli feed it, there was no way I was going to. I will skydive and bunji jump, but I'm not feeding a bird! Tomorrow we are meeting with ...

... vegged out with Amber, Michal, and Stace a bit, then laid out in the sun and took a dip in the pool. Uncle Steve asked if I'd like to take a drive, so I dried off from the pool and Steve, Monnie, and I took a drive all over the Cape Penisula. We drove around Hout Bay, went up Signal Hill for a stunning view (pics to come), and went through the Malay Quarter with its colorful houses. Grabbed a drink at Andiamo's near Long Street...I got a yummy pear juice, then back to the house ...

... men opened the door of the bus (luckily for me, I was the person closest to the door) and started asking me a million questions about where we were going etc (which was hard to understand first of all because of the accents) and then proceeded to try and pull me out of the bus. I had no idea where I was and was trying to resist them pulling me out. So instead, I distracted them for a second and when they had turned their heads I shut the door and locked it in ...

... day. There's so much more I could say about how amazing the lodge was, but I think everyone would be bored by it. I ate ostrich for dinner one night, springbok carpaccio and a lot of other weird yet amazing food. It was the best food I've ever had in my whole life. It really sucks being back on the boat eating boat food. I feel like there's a lot of "best in my whole life" in this entry, but that's because this whole country is just incredible. ... and stories with such candor. On the ferry on our way back from the Island we met a man named Zola from Port Elizabeth who was in CT for a few weeks working on a construction project. (Another glaring similarity with Miami-new condo development everywhere, particularly along the waterfront area). We spent that afternoon hanging out with Zola over a few beers. He talked to us about growing up under apartheid and what life has been like since. But the reminders are ...
