Hello from the Rain Forest!! Oddly enough it has been raining for over 12 hours...who knew. We made the trip up from Cairns on Wednesday after indulging in too much beer and gin with the boat divers. Luckily not enough beer and gin to enter the wet t-shirt contest at Gilligans.... After having a big breakfast we picked up Sebastian (fellow boat ...

The sites and tours around Cairns are virtually endless. People think (and when I say people, I suppose I mean me) that the reason you go to Cairns is to dive the Great Barrier Reef and maybe, MAYBE spend a day or two exploring some of the rainforest and national parks around the area.
This will teach me to better research areas before I ...
Geweldig!! Vannacht zelfs het regenwoud i...

We had just a week left in Australia and how the time had flown by! We hired a car for the last week as we would be travelling north of Cairns into the rainforest so there is no public transport there - just wrotten ole coach tours which don't let you stop anywhere.
So - we hired a very trusty old car from Cairns Older Car Hire - just to fin...
Well, it's a few days later now from last I wrote. I was in the rainforest with no phones, computers, etc! It was amazing. I'm not even sure what day it is.
I left Cairns maybe on Sunday or Monday and booked a trip to Cape Tribulation. I've always wanted to go here so I was really looking forward to it. It is where the rainforest meets the r...
We arrived back in Cairns today at 7:30 am and returned to the Hilton. Unfortunately we couldn't fly out of Cairns due to having to wait 24 hrs. post-diving to fly, so we decided to rent a car and drive up the coast to see Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rain Forest. One of our liveaboard friends came along as well.
As Doug forgot his D...
So, after getting Moby jumped back to life (we thought that he had been drained by the inverter left plugged in to the lighter socket all night) we chugged on towards the beach town of Mission beach. Now when I say chugged, I mean chugged. Moby was hitting new levels of slow and powerless. To give you an idea I decided to measure him on a 0-80 k...
Cape Tribulation, Queensland, Australia mobymojoHi all Thanks for the messages; lovely to hear from you all. Only got a few minutes, will do a proper report from Ayers Rock tomorrow. This is our last night in Port Douglas and today we've been on the Skyrail which is a cableway that goes above the canopy of the rainforest. It was amazing but a little scary! We then took the train back down via...
Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia rosieehillI am finally able to blog again after tmy devastating news that there was no scuba in my near future. I just needed a little time and I am sure Kelly told you about the voodoo doctor that crushed my dreams. BUT no man can keep me down so I took all my scuba gear ( that we have schlepped across 3 continents), got some wax ( for my ears) and set o...

(please read the following in an Aussie accent to gain full effect) G'day, It's Sheila n Sheila here. The heat's a blinder and we're sweating like a pair of Polar Bears on a beach. Well, might I say, after some 5 minutes in the tropical rainforest of northern Queensland, Sheila and myself have discovered we do not belong in the tropical rainfore...
