... he slammed on the brakes, causing us all to panic, and pulled up on the hard shoulder. He hopped out and took Dean and a couple of our friends into a local shebeen, a rough, shed like tavern used predominantly by the poor black communities where they bought an excessive amount of beer. The alcohol hit us all pretty quickly but the bouncy roads and a belly full of suds caused me to feel close to puking, so I put on Luther Vandross and went to sleep instead ...
Jefferys Bay, South Africa jordanblair100... every day. Work started at 7:30, we would go over to the shop and the first job was to set all the plates out on the 4 freezers in the prep room (there were specific plates and places to put everything). Sadly this was my favourite task of the day, and I think I did everyday twice a day for the entire time I was there! Then we would begin to prepare all the food for all the animals. First you would look at the schedule to see which route you were on ...
Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa kkb-myadventurehey all,

We have arrived at African Dawn, it is 20 min. from J-Bay. We got to the lodge at night, it was dark, but I think it was only about 6:30 - 7, it is the Spring time here... we had dinner in the "restuarant" area (picnic tables in a room), we had pasta, I think I won't go hungry, they only seem to feed us pastas and high carby foods.
We were then shown our sleeping ...
Mine anelser viste ...
... Should have taken a photo.
Meant to spend days catching up on blog and diary but spent it shopping instead. So many surf shops and discount outlets - Quiksilver, Billabong, RipCurl, Roxy all having sales. HELLO! How could I say no when tops were R80 (US$8)! The most expensive thing I saw not on sale was R500 which is just crazy when in the UK it would have easily been 150 quid. Tiree girl you would be in heaven!! First two nights we stayed at a place called ...
... it while you jump on, hold the wings and ride it like a bucking bronco, only its not only the largest bird on the planet but the fastest capable of reaching nearly 50 miles an hour. Wear a crash helmet. They are not the only wandering around the garden that you can ride on, large tortoise's pad up and down the hills. As its spring in S.A. we watched one tortoise following the other, head butting the one in front, trying to ...

Jeffreys Bay, South Africa stephieloulou... cup- South Africa vs England! It was a really big thing over there. In the afternoon we had to find another backpackers as ours was fully booked. We found Pheonix Backpackers. It was really dark and creepy. The woman was really weird- we think she was an ex-druggie. She had really old, baggy clothes and bandages all over her. Also a big scar on her face from a car accident. It was ...
Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa sam.topping... They thought I was brave for going horse riding :-) !!! Gill decided to go on a horse ride and of course I got dragged with her. To be honest it was unreal. They took us through 4k of countryside, then 4k of desert and sand dunes and finally 7k of white sand beach. We did not see one person on our journey and I was ******** it for the whole trip. We got to this section that had a massive sign saying "for experienced riders only ...
Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa jonnyandgill... put up signs. Yet again lady luck was with us, in the form of a wonderfully polite Canadian gentleman going by the name of Colan. Colan was visiting South Africa for a few weeks on a quick break from life working as a HR manager at an oil refinery. He had hired a car and had already picked up two German ladies (Kristina and Simone) and was ...
