... is that going to help, and what is that going to do to me, when I give every single of the million or more of these people 10 rupees... It was impossible and it broke my heart.
There was a well fed monk of some sort with a spring in his step and a begging bowl with dreadlocks walking around town, stopping in the restaurants (they call them hotels here, and hotels are guesthouses or tourist homes) and getting some food at each one... Religion is strange thing, and what people's ...
So, theres a city near Kochi to the north called Ernakaulum, and we needed to catch a bus to Kollam, and asked around, and ended up on a bus to Ernakaulum. Government buses in the south are slick, though...they each have a fare collector whose got a ticket machine that prints you a receipt so we were able to read about 10 minutes into the ride that we were headed the wrong way. See, we needed to catch a train that left from Ernakaulum at ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India kelmiller... and price. Since Varkala was so toasty it was hard to find a room that wasn't super hot and unbearable to sleep in. We did eventually find a room (of course further back off the beach) and dropped our things off and headed straight to the beach. We only had time to visit the main beach, the one you always see pictures of in books. There are huge red cliffs that loom above everyone on the beach below. Pretty much every single space on the ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India carrienica05... largest creature I have ever seen come out of any ocean. It was a huge stingray, I'm guessing four meters wide and weighing around a ton, flapping it's gigantic wings in a futile attempt to escape back into the safety of it's watery home. That fact that it was still alive was a little sad but probably couldn't be helped. It took the fisherman the best part of an hour to haul this beast just a few meters from the water's edge to the beach. How did these ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India thedidgeridude... weather wasnt looking so great for the idyllic sunset we were hoping for. So bad in fact that when we arrived at the station, we didn't even want to go out in it. After a minute of contemplating, and the weather getting a bit better, we laugh ed as Rob, from Scotland and me from England, we wouldn’t of even thought twice about walking out in this drizzle at ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India markwilliams84P: Kanyakumari was actually very nice place to stay. It is located on most southern point of India and it is pilgrim place for Hindus. We walked around first night, next day we went to small island just off shore the town. There actually two of them next to each other. On ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India, India ipaloHELLO ALL!!! I'VE MADE IT TO THE END WITH NO DISASTERS, INJURIES OR SERIOUS BREAKDOWNS! so, let me start with yesterday - could not get to an Internet cafe! are rickshaw was fixed the previous night with some serious arc welding at the bottom of the handle bars. just amazing how no rickshaw is given up on! we got into Courtaalam just after 6:30 so it was slightly dark and this was because we started late. the lead organizer's family is from Tuticorin so his father invited us to ...
Kanyakumari, India sameer_chandani... on with our lunar predictions and arrived when the moon was due to be at it's fullest for the month! We visited the Kumari Amman temple and our tour by one of the priest's also included the ritual marking of the forehead with red powder....as you'll see in the pictures! Other than some impressive temples, there wasn't really that much going on in the ...
Kanyakumari, India jimandmargarida... with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, Myself not least, but honour'd of them all; And drunk delight of battle with my peers; Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy. I am part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethro' Gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades For ever and for ever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to ...
Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India ctrlz1... every meal. Delightful. We spent a wonderful afternoon knocking about on the water, taking in the beautiful sites and popping into the water for a refreshing dip. At one point we headed onto land in order to buy some whopping great big tiger prawns, nearly as big as a house. Extrordinary. Unfortunately, the houseboat adventure was only for a single night so by 10 the next morning we were off again on to Varkala. Nevertheless, the experience was hugely ...
