We left Albuquerque on the 9.30 bus, after having braved one of the more dodgy Greyhound stations we had encountered so far. The fact that it was in the middle of an area where the streets were named after precious metals didn't make much difference - it was still packed full of the usual low-life types and contained the usual unpleasant stench. Both of these transferred themselves to the bus, which was packed full of unsavoury sorts and seemed to be lacking any kind of ventilation. Luckily t...

Sedona is such a new age, vortex energy make yourself well kind of place I had to go back.
Maybe I'm a vortex groupie.
But everybody needs to see Sedona, and once you do, you'll want to go back again and again.
So enjoy the pics with the new camera, but don't misinterpret our recent return-- I'm still mad it's not a national park.
Note: My fishing buddy Landis and her husband are here from freezing Montana--good excuse to re-visit.
... at the top looking down. Some day we'll do it. The Grand Canyon reminds us of MOAB and the Badlands all pushed into one. It was Pretty amazing!
Has we headed out of the park we saw that they were showing the Grand Canyon on the imax theater, this definitely gave us a little better perspective of what we were actually looking at. It was great way to end our time there.
Now it's off the California!

... of the participants asking members of the audience if they had any birthdays or anniversaries; if they put their hands up, they were offered horse manure as presents. Unfortunate late-comers to the show had their hands shaken by the cowboy with the manure and were bewildered as to why everyone was cheering and laughing.......maybe they should have smelled their hands!!! The show lasted for about 20 minutes and then we boarded the ...
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States nuttyal... Rock State Park and Sedona, fairly quickly, as we had hoped to find a first come first served campsite along 89A before all filled-up, but that didn't pan out. The landscape of Red Rock State Park is nature at its most elegant and austere. Sedona, while a great place to spend money and find creature comforts, felt a little too tourist-chic for us, so after a drive through its cute downtown and quick walk around the galleries, shops and ...
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States alfredensusanneThere's something about those red rocks -- they are beautiful but also mysterious. Some kind of strong positive energy seems to surround certain areas. You sometimes get drawn in and can't help but wonder -- what can we discover here that we don't already know? (Pol Madamba)
Sedona , Arizona, United States polmadamba... we come up with the following. Don't think of what you are about to read as a Theory, but as a Hollywood Movie Script. They say that life is stranger than fiction, so if we "sell" the following story as "fiction" than whatever really happens won't sound as farfetched. The story you are about to read is my life. We skip forward through the first 44 years as the important parts will be reviewed during the "Journey". The story of the "Journey" is ...
Williams, Arizona, United States cobra1899... is about 1% of Arizona I felt they were not books that were either suitable or fair. Instead I found something less user friendly than the Rough Guides or Lonely Planets, but ultimately more useful. So I hoped. Seeing as I was now on the north side of Phoenix I changed my entire journey so as not to waste 10 minutes driving back on myself. Instead I drove north and through a desert environment soewat different to the route into Arizona from Joshua Tree ...
Flagstaff, Arizona, United States garethbirduk... while, I sat down and ate my lunch with the best view in town. The air was clear and this time it did not rain or snow on me. I picked up my backpack and began my trip back to the top. To my surprise, it took me one hour to get down and only one hour to get back when it should have taken me two hours to return. If I knew it was going to be like this, I would have ventured further out. However, the fact was I was beat and I napped the rest of the day. Sunday - The Arcosanti ...
