Gallo Pinto, Pollo Frito!!!

... wake up call the following morning, so we went straight to bed. We woke up at 4am to shower and check in at the Tica office, conveniently located in the lobby of the hotel, by 430am. The bus departed promptly at 530 and before we knew it, we were headed to the El Salvador/Guatemala boarder. Either we made really good time or a 5 hour ride seemed like nothing compared to the day before, but we were in Guatemala City at 1030am. From what I could see from the bus ...

Costa Rican Boarder- Worst Yet

... the guides was driving me crazy. Telling someone "no" 10 times still seems to be a yes in their minds. I’m very lucky for Christina’s calming abilities.

Second annoyance! In order to drive across the boarder you have to get you car sprayed for insects. I went to pay for this car spray and when I was given change Accidental dropped it on the ground. There was a truck driver standing next me who reached down to pick up a coin, I&#8217 ...

What a fun it is to go out on a saturday night...

... crowded with gay people and woman are hardly to be found in this cozy place. Not to mencion the crowd of men, that is not interessted in looking out for women at all, but to hook up with some Tico, that is willing to fulfill their necesidad to become the affection they long for. For all of you, that have asked us about Tico men and how they are, we must really disappoint you and its sad to say so. They are adcited to sex and no normal teenage kid in Costa Rica ...

Border and to Liberia

... camp 7 kms down the road at the visitor centre. This was 14 kms from the beach and 18 kms from the turtle nesting site and the path was walking only, furthermore the turtle site was closed with no tours. As a result we decided to carry on to a spot just outside of Liberia which accepted vehicles; on arrival we found this was now a building site. On we went this time to the town, on the outskirts there is a hotel with a huge area beside it, they would not accept us to ...

The Longest Day of My Life Ends in Paradise

... turns out to contribute to why this turned out to be the longest day of my life. While I waited for my 6:00 a.m. flight to board, I take the time to look through the paperwork and discover that Sansa airlines--a regional Costa Rican airline that was going to take me from San Jose, Costa Rica to Liberia Costa Rica--has a strictly-enforced luggage limit of 25 pounds. Including all carry-ons. At that point I knew I was in trouble. Not only ...

Boat Border Crossing, 15 Hours Of Travel

... stamped at san Carlos and jumped a motorboat on the Rio Frio to Los Chiles. The boat was checked at a military checkpoint. We saw a crocodile on a log just before we hit the dock. Our bags were quickly searched then we waited in a fast line for immigration to stamp us in. Easy crossing although the lads at the desk stepped out for lunch while we were in the line up. We managed to get the last very full bus with ...

Santa Elena-Costa Rica

I left Liberia for Monteverde around 8:30am. The bus goes to Canas first then to Tilaran. Then you have to catch a Monteverde bus which drop you off in Santa Elena. I recommend staying in Santa Elena since you get more stores and accomodations. I stayed at Pension Santa Elena. It costs $5 per night. The staff are so friendly and they direct you for different activities. I went to see the frog pond at night. It costs $7 for ...

New travelling companions!

... Heavenly, particularly in February! Tried going surfing but the waves weren't great so will prob try again further down the coast, more oppotunities to pose with a board! The plus side of all the American tourists here and their real estate is.....huge American portions! Yummy, but not good when you want to wear a bikini. Right, back to the sun, building up an appetite before the next big feed!
