    Happy New Year Everyone!

It is high time that we contribute to our travel blog and prove that we are still alive and kickin' here in Shanghai!

We had a break from Asia for about 5 weeks as we headed home to NH for the holidays. We were able to spend some time with our boys, our friends and spent a quick weekend in Hamilton with our families. It was so wonderful to see everyone again.

We were back in Shanghai January 10th and have been busy ever ...

And we're only here because we couldn't get a direct train to Beijing.

    BLAH.

... possible! They had Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Burger King and a Chinese fast food place, Kung Fu. I successfully found Subway and ordered a sub! I also made friends with the Subway employees. I caught a bus that I thought would take me back to the hotel but it turns out some of the 850 buses just circle West Lake so I had to get off at the same stop I used to get to West Lake. While I was walking to another bus stop a South African couple passed me and asked ...

... from the tap water we've been boiling, so we've been collecting plastic bottles to fill up when we visit again.

We discovered it one morning when we got up at 5, and decided to head out to West Lake for some exercise before going to the office. We went to a less visited part of the lake, where a labyrinth of trails, ponds, and pathways beckoned.

On the rainy morning, it was a fairyland, with mists being blown across the fish pools. At every turn, new ...
