    ... It was amazing to me that 25 years after the release of the movie, folks would still travel to the middle of nowhere Iowa to play catch with their kids or friends, in the field from the set.

    ... we headed back into town. The next surprise for Alex was I booked us a room at a hotel right on the waterfront of the Mississippi that also included an indoor water park. We splashed, slid and soaked for an hour and a half, before getting a much-needed dinner.

    It has been a great day by any measure, but made all the more spectacular in light of the day before. The hug that Alex gave me as we walked off the field after playing catch said it all.

    ... and even managed to experience our first small town diner for the lack of a better option. Our accommodation for the night was another historic B&B with a chatty owner, but on a much grander scale. This one had about 12 rooms, including one in the tower accessed by a narrow spiral staircase, which we got upgraded too. Not the greatest place considering Donelle's vertigo and the severe storms, but it was good even with the warnings interrupting our TV ...

    ... in their inscription cost. These people gave up their "Labor Day" holiday to spend it sitting and learning from the Word of God! He did a fantastic job!

    We flew to Chicago on Friday (May 2) and spent Saturday morning and early afternoon with our oldest son, Daniel, his wife, Abby, and their two children before driving home.

    Rode down to start the trans Wisconsin adventure trail just outside Dubuque Iowa. When I left the house it was 37 degrees. Overall temp was 50-55 the rest of the day. We found some fun twisties after miles and miles of corn fields. Made a few stops for rest, gas and food and ...
