Agawam, Massachusetts, United States tarynswrldAfter a restless night at the airport I waited with the crowds for the 6:45 a.m. flight out to Dallas, but again had no prayer of getting on. An agent told me I probably would not get out all week, as Boston is almost always short on planes. I called Uncle Bill and he said he could route me through Chicago from Hartford, if I ...

At the Tuesday Morning in the same strip center I bought a stocking cap for walking about Boston, as the weather is supposed to turn cold. Jan found just the perfect one for me--brown with a few stripes that matches my raincoat.

Jan & Jack arrived at 11:00 to take us for a beautiful drive in the country--Litchfield and Kent in western Connecticut. We stopped at Lake Waramaug and had an outdoor lunch at the Hopkins Inn overlooking the water, then drove on to Kent where we walked around town a bit, admiring the huge animal sculptures scattered about. I could have spent a lot more time there! We drove over Bull's Bridge, a ...

After unpacking at our 6th floor room, we walked out the front door to go for a walk and ran into our friends Cookie & Paul Shapiro who drove up from NYC just to see us for a couple of days. Cookie had just had laser ...
Woke to a cloudy, rainy day and went for a seven mile walk. For lunch we ate soup, then Jan and I went downtown to the Mark Twain House Tour. We missed the parking lot and ended up parking on the street, which was fine, although a bit damp. The tour was interesting, but we both agreed it seemed dark and dreary inside, and would have better viewed on a sunny day with light streaming in the beautiful stained glass windows. We went for a coffee ...

It was colder there because of the sea breeze, and I was glad Jan was able to get two of our three passes for free from the library, so we were only out $20 and didn't feel like we had to stay for the entire day to get our money's worth! My favorite part was the lighthouse--a re-creation of the Nantucket lighthouse, built 8 times over due to weather and fire (the 2nd one in the ...

Drove back home for soup for lunch, then took off to pick up their grandchild Luke (age 6) from school and watch him and his sister Millie (age 9) until their father Paul was able to get home from work. Jan fixed a basic dinner or BBQ chicken and pasta while I taught the kids how to play "movie". Paul talked a bit about work and the architect Henry Hobson ...

(By the way - Ty is growing bigger by the minute. He's eating like a Champ and outgrowing all his clothes. He holds his head pretty steady now and laughs a good bit - we can send short video clips on this website and if we can get it uploaded we'll send some video of him laughing in the next several days!)
