Today was the real beginning of our journey planned for this summer--our get together at Lunar Golf in Town West. We had about 20 students and several parents come out on a cold, dreary day. But it wasn't cold nor dreary inside golfing! We are looking forward to our first orientation meeting January 10 at the Ice Center. Can't wait to have everyone together--in the light-- so we will recognized each other!!
Wichita, Kansas, United States wichitap2p... here. Wichita is a nce place to live, the local economy is driven primarily by the aircraft industry. Most of the country's small and larger aircrafts are built here from Cessna to Boeing. On this trip we visited many of Susan's family and friends. From her mom and dad to brother Bryan. Trang, Tuyet and Thuy's family. We even had dinner several times with Melissa, Brandee and ...
Wichita, Kansas, United States qpoal0198... the glint of red sunlight blanketing the horizon over the treetops. Since we were heading west, the sunset gladly lasted longer and we chased its ever changing view. It seemed that even after the sun had set, the sky emitted colorful blues and purples throughout. Very beautiful.
Lola had a bit of a rough night again but...best going unmentioned.
We got some drinks at a few different places, Oeno (a wine bar), some pump house/station connected to a gas ...
Off to Kanas in the search of the gang on the Yellow Brick Road and we did not see a single yellow brick, cowardly lion or red slipper. Kansas was a no show for Dorothy, maybe she is still in OZ, maybe we just didn't look hard enough ... poor Dorothy (we hear we should have hunted in West Kansas).
BUT ... we did find a giant Indian. An Indian statue known as the Keeper of the Plains and he has a fireshow every night. This big guy ...
... lightening last night. We ate at the Big Texan (the place on of the competitions was held at in the"Great American Roadtrip); it's a Route 66 Icon along with some other places we stopped at. For those who watched the Disney movie cars I will reference these locations in the Cars form as well. Last night we went to “Cadillac Ranch”, aka (the idea for the angled mountains in the cars movie), today we stopped at the VW ...

Had breakfast the next morning at the world's worst Denny's (I'm sure). The waiter was nice ...

... this act. From this tribute, we walked around a couple of blocks of the business district, and not even a Starbucks open, (an open Subway but we all know our likeness for that Franchise chain) We piled back into the Castle and made ourselves a cuppa and set sail north, (Karon showing concern that it would be colder and maybe heading into snow country) Wichita being the destination, the Cattle country destination for the large cattle drives along ...
Wichita, Kansas, United States popusa2008... s worth of shops and restaurants arranged around a small square, most of which were closed. Even though we will miss the real 'southern hospitality' shown to us thus far, we are glad to be getting farther out west, and look forward to the second (but last) week of our trip. We've done eight states (MD, WV, VA, TN, KY, IL, MO, and KS) in eight days, and we still have four left (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and California). But they are the largest four...
