... my way to Abilene around 7 am. I stopped at a local coffee shop and had a nice breakfast about a mile from the Library. I arrived as the doors opened at the library. They accepted my Hoover membership for admission to Eisenhower as was promised. I was told that the first tour through the Eisenhower home was at 9:15. Also, did you know that there really is a 'Dorothy's House,' complete with a yellow brick road and all of the characters??? There is! It's in Liberal, Kansas, in the south western corner, just above Oklahoma. (Junctions 83 and 54 if you are interested) We didn't take that route, but you can!

... maintenance vehicles stopped on the highway. It is a good law, but the drivers do that for any vehicle, and usually very abruptly. So you can be booting along in the left lane when all of a sudden someone will come into your lane, no signal-no warning, and slow down to 40 MPH! That'll leave a spot on the seat! More than once I have had to veer onto the shoulder to avoid missing one of these clowns.
