... local Kiawanis club. It was a potluck style meal with all home cooked food and plenty of it. Also had some really fun talks with a few of the members about living in Emporia and the big 200 gravel road mountain bike race they had last weekend. All in all it was a day fit for a ...

The trail goes through a large pasture that supposedly is home to a somewhat aggressive buffalo herd, so we were cautioned (on the map & by the ranger) to be extremely careful and stay far away from the buffalo. We took a 3.5 mile hike through the backcountry of this ecosystem, and we didn't see another soul in any direction, except for a herd of bison that have recently been reintroduced to the area. This will definitely go down as one of our highlights of our ...

Hoping to shift into vacation mode...

Left home at 6:30am this morning. My Aunt Carol Thomas, whom I dearly loved and admired, passed away this week. Attended her funeral in Corydon this morning and burial in Cambria. It is hard to believe that we will not see her anymore, but she lived a long and very good life. I feel so bad for her family... it is hard to switch into vacation mode...
