... surprising things Greg and I noticed while looking at a cemetery outside one of the original churches, was that, in this part of the country, people seemed to live much longer lives than was the norm in the 1800's. Many died in infancy, of course, but we saw that a majority of the headstones indicated years that calculated to 60, 70, or even 80 years of age! Guess those old mountain folks were made of tough stuff! It was a nice drive ...

Tennessee is full of motivated, honest and dedicated staff involved in all aspects of forensic science in this part of the State. they have invested time and resources to ensure that there is a continuity of training and development for their people and this appears to be paying dividens for them. Well done guys, keep up the good work.

Nathan is flying out to Seattle tomorrow so his colleague Robert is taking me out for the day to visit the CSI department and also the new forensic lab that has been built to service this third of the state. I cant wait.

Time for bed as it has been a very long day travelling!

Well, not much to say about Knoxville as we arrived late due to trying to sort out an extra day car hire as we realised we wouldn't make it to Washington D.C. by 11:00 the next day. By the time we got there we just wanted to relax so we went to Ruby Tuesday's for a late lunch and then I went and sat by the pool. We ended up watching back to back movies of Get Shorty and Be Cool (which always makes us laugh).

The next day it was the big pull to Washington D.C.

Our trip got off to a bit of a rocky start. Because of wanting to use our miles, and trying to get a good fare, we ended up having to go to London on two different flights. Michael was to head to London via Dallas/Fort Worth and I was to head there via Chicago, leaving Knoxville about three hours later.
