We left the great sand dunes and drove through Colorado into Kansas where we spent the night at another walmart. The next morning, we got up and drove to Abilene, ks, the home of the Eisenhower museum and library. We toured his boyhood home, which was way smaller than Jefferson's which we saw last year. Covered 640 miles today from Bloomington to Abilene. Same mileage we traveled the first 2 days total. Arrived in Abilene 7:30 EDT (6:30 CDT). Had an impromptu hour and a half the tour it Western Illinois. About 20 miles from the Mississippi River Kathy realized we were close to Alton Illinois where her maternal great grandparents were married in 1870. Got off 70 and headed to Alton. ...
