... more down and out than Thailand. I expected to see poor, homeless people in Thailand, I expected it to be rough, I expected to be scared at some places but my god. Thailand has nothing on downtown LA. There are streets lined with tents and shanty huts. There are so many homeless routing through bins, drinking and eating what they can find. Pushng trollies filled with blanket, cardboard, basically pushing their homes. There are people off their heads on drugs, talking ...

I figure we must've walked 2-3 ...

... agent.... Meanwhile, having not eaten in 12 hours, we thought Maccas along the road was looking attractive indeed. Forget foodie safari; this is authentic Americana! So loaded up with wraps and lattes we ventured out again along dark highways and byways till we reached another hotel with grim one-way window. But third time lucky! Thank you Howard Johnson! It was now 2am. We collapsed inside our room, wolfed down our wraps and clinked lattes. Happy New ...

... to the other towns nearby but it's just very built up, commercialised, bright and fun. We walked down the Walk of Fame and must have had "tourists" written across our foreheads as everyone we passed said "welcome to Hollywood ladies". We were acting very normal as far as we were concerned and didn't have our phones out taking a load of pictures like the Asians would and nor were we looking up at things in awe. Perhaps the fact that our noses were running along the floor reading ...
