    ... she was raised, cleaned and preserved. In 1977, she was placed in a special pavilion in the Vicksburg park, alongside a museum that had preserved personal items from the crew (none of whom died, but they had to leave everything behind) and tools and equipment from the ship. It was a very interesting display, and the signs describing what you could see were very informative.

This site is off the beaten path in eastern Arkansas; another one of those places that you have to want to go to - you're not going to stumble upon it by accident!
