I chose this hotel as I had several Priority Points that I wanted to use. It was cheap and near the airport, which meant it was far from downtown. However, they had a shuttle van that would take guests to the train station at the airport, so that worked out.

The staff was very friendly and always helpful with our questions.

We had an incredible trip through the aspens, over the continental divide, and down into Denver yesterday. I have driven through Colorado several times , even in the fall, but I have never seen aspen trees in pink and pastel orange, as well as bright yellow, pale gold and chartreuse. Unfortunately pictures from a moving train don't do the colors ...

Today was beautiful, weather-wise, with a maximum temperature of 28C forecast and not a puff of wind (I remain bemused by the 'Windy City' moniker, as I haven't experienced a really blustery day during four visits now). Early in the morning Sarah, Maggie and I caught the elevator to the 11th floor of the tall east wing of the building, then climbed one flight of stairs to check out the rooftop 'garden'. (The word garden is in inverted commas because there was not a ...

So in the end it was a wonderful trip. I honestly became totally burned out with all this writing and blog posting. It became more of a chore than anything else, and I'm not sure I’ll do it (in this way) again.

I suppose I should actually end the narrative of my trip:

The second bar we hit was called Simpla, and was complete filled with soviet paraphernalia, ...
