    ... walking the 5 blocks there and back. Around 6 I took the subway to the old city -still very hot but breezy down by Penn's Landing and the Delaware river. Walked round Georgian Philly -elegant green squares and classical buildings but its too hot to stay out long..So back home by 9.30 to shower and eat and surf on my tablet as umm....people in this house have no tv ...only their lap ...

    ... of disappointment. This city in no way reflected the fact that it was the governmental hub of the second most populous state in the union. The outlying squalor was rampant, and the buildings downtown were not that momentous. In fact they were run down and rather in poor repair. We didn't bother stopping or getting out. It wasn't a good idea.
