... we headed to see the largest canyon on Mars. Valles Marineris, or Mariner Valley, is an enormous canyon system that runs along the Martian equator just east of the Tharsis region. Valles Marineris is 4000 km (2500 mi) long and reaches depths of up to 7 km (4 mi)! For comparison, the Grand Canyon in Arizona is about 800 km (500 mi) long and
1.6 km (1 mi) deep. In fact, the extent of Valles Marineris is ...

... get us to where we need to be when it is all said and done. The ETA according to GyPSy is 6:30 p.m. It will be an 8 hour trip.

We take to the highway, following GyPSy’s intructions. It seems to me that we are going back the way we came in yesterday, but according to the compass in the car and GyPSy we are travelling southward, toward Helena, the state capitol. At the lightening speed of 75 mph. this 92-mile leg of the trip should take us about ...

Day 1 back on the road

After 9 days at Shawn and Kathy’s hosting us, Kathy’s family, and throwing a wonderful family reunion, we are back on the road (see: cameo.tv/c/23v6efrb for a short view). Today we departed Eugene and made it to Boise, ID and are staying with Gabe, Kaveri and Cantril, who also drove back today. So with the resumption of road tripping, I will try to fill in with some vignettes of ...
