We left the park and crossed into Texas, of course stopping at the visitors' center for maps. The traffic through Fort Worth was terrible! I am not normally someone who believes in the whole wrath of god thing but after our time in Oklahoma I don't know what else to call what we went through. First off, hats off to Sam for driving the whole 8 and a half hours from St. Louis to the National Park. We got some camping gear at Target before we left St. Louis and then it was a straight shot to Oklahoma. About half way there we started to see some heat lighting and as we ...

... but aside from talking and asking a lot of questions and offering me his leftover onion rings (which I declined), he loved what little bit of the show he managed to see since he was leaving the tent every five minutes for a smoke. He kept forgetting to put out his cigarette before heading through my gate, so I’d remind him each time and he’d laugh and shake his head.

There was a chance of rain, but thankfully it didn’t hit. The ground was ...
