        Last night we had discussed which of two places we would visit today, weather being the determining factor. The first is a walking tour of Savannah, the second a walking/driving tour of Beaufort. If it is raining hard we will visit Beaufort, if hardly raining it will be Savannah. We choose Beaufort as it is raining with a little Dunder und Blitzen thrown in. Thor has found us.

        ... Most of it was unfamiliar to me but interesting all the same. Next stop was the Thomas-Owen house. This house had the first indoor plumbing and running water. There have exposed some of the workings of the pipes and no we did not get to test it. The Marquis de Lafayette stayed here when it was a boarding house for two nights and this entitled the house to be listed with the historic society. Again no indoor photos ...

        ... the ships ballast. It is lined with tourist bars & shops, of course, but quite picturesque. We had a drink in an "Authentic Irish Pub" the only authentic Irish in there were 2 young girls who were being chatted up like mad by all the locals.
