By the time I had done that, showered and put the first couple of entries into my sexy new blog, it was time to gather my belongings that were strewn all over the tiny room and check out.

Whilst eating and resting my very, very weary legs, I consolled myself with the good pictures of the castle I took from the pedestrian overpass. I've seen several castles now in Japan, so I doubt that this one would have been any different had I bothered to get closer.

I arrived in Kyoto via the high speed Shinkansen bullet train which is a 3 hour journey from Tokyo. The scenery changes remarkably quickly over this distance and is a great way to travel. It was very comfortable and a tea lady wandering up and down the train with her trolley of goodies, just like an aircraft.
