Walked to Matsumoto castle, an amazing old wooden castle, shoes off, and walked up the 6 levels. Some stairs were very steep, almost vertical. Beautiful manicured gardens. We had ice creams under the vine covered pergola, and then went to the Matsumoto city museum, small but interesting. All tired and hungry went to ...

Yudanaka to Matsumot

A travel blog entry by ptoj on Oct 04, 2015

After breakfast and photos Mr Yumoto drove us to the train. We went to Nagano then ran to catch an earlier train to Matsumoto, this caused much confusion at the gate but we made it . Boys relaxed in the hotel. We explored the town - nakamichi street and nawate street. Found the best indigo fabric shop ever, and bought some treasures, was also given lots of fabric gifts! Dinner at an Irish pub - not that ...

Higher up we started passing steaming, sulphurous vents in the mountainside that reminded us that we were indeed on a live volcano. The ...

On the contrary: from the moment my plane landed on Haneda Airport, I had so much to do I couldn't find the time to sit down and write you an update. Oh, about the rain: the flooding you might have read about two weeks ago was on the other side of Tokyo. The river near my home rose quite a lot after the ...

Spend around 4 nights in Matsumotta, used it as a base to do the Magome- Tsumago Trail, Kamikochi and the Wasabi farm

The hostel I stayed in, had a great escape plan, one route was the front door, the other through a window, unfortunately someone would need to cut back all the trees+ plans in order to have a quick escape :)

Also loved the advise for earthquakes: hid under the ...
