    ... around the old town and has a small existence with tourism. Geraldine thought the ruins too new to be of interest. We went in the morning again to avoid the hottest part of the day. (Weather 35-40 deg C clear skies and very humid).

    Ekincik was a delightful little anchorage off a small pebble beach with a natural spring just inland. We stopped here heading westwards & thought we'd visit again on the return leg.

    ... the bus drivers. We parked in the back corner next to a park / kiddies' playground and went for a walk. Although Dalyan is clearly a tourist base it had a very positive and relaxed feel. The streets were clean and attractively designed.

    We shared a meze platter and I had my first fresh pomegranate juice. Good stuff – healthy too. When we got back to the van at about 10pm the carpark was indeed quiet – all the buses ...

    The call to prayer from the mosque is very much part of the daily rhythm. Tonight there is a special buzz in the streets and a difference in the call. It’s the end of Ramadan and the Eid celebrations begin.

    We said goodbye to Dawn and Rory this afternoon and tomorrow the rest of us go our separate ways. We feel so incredibly lucky to have had this holiday time together in such a wonderful setting.

    ... choice for our last evening meal. We had enjoyed other dishes but the speciality dishes requiring "slow cooking" definitely needed to be sampled. We pre – ordered a lamb dish cooked in a clay pot and Serife’s personal favourite, a chicken bake. These were supplemented by meze, a chicken cooked in an iron pan and a mince pancake.

    ... very table. Good man, he doesn't know it yet but that gesture just doubled his tip for the holiday! However, there is a minor problem now that we've nabbed this premier position. We are at least an hour earlier than we've normally been coming in to dinner and subsequently that last sunset we want so much to enjoy is still over an hour away. Never before have we hung out a buffet meal for so long, but boy was it worth it, another amazing sunset enjoyed ...
