When we got back we managed to get onto our pitch and got set up, bit of an awkward squeeze as the pitch is long but only 5m wide so to ensure we could get the van out when we needed to we had to squeeze it all in a bit. ... village, the roads were cobbled and paved with very slick marble. As we passed through the church square, he warned me that I'd make a very sharp turn and that I'd have to "gun it" to make the final ascent. I was already regretting not having a manual transmission, to give me more torque. I made the turn quickly, to maintain momentum, but as I cut hard right to squeeze -- barely -- the van into the narrow channel, there was a loud crunching noise in back ...
