We had one very interesting day, which made me feel very educational I must say! We went to one of the new seven wonders of the world, Chichen Itza. It was a Mayan village, and had amazing buildings and pyramids. We were told about the people they believed to be gods, who were actually the most intelligent people from the village, and so because of their extreme intellect, they all believed they were magical. We were also told about how they ...

The Tour d'Afrique starts today! From our hotel a convoy of
45 riders with police escort rode
to the Great Pyramid of Giza for the official starting ceremonies and
photo-ops. Took pictures of the pyramids and sphinx. Fended off numerous local
guys dressed in mufti offering camel rides and currency exchange.

Following the ceremony we remained in convoy with escort out
of the city to ensure no ...

... city of Cancun the side walks were jagged and the city looked run down. This is not to be confused with the hotel zone area of "Cancun", which is immaculate. For my first few days I was staying in the main city of Cancun, away from the hotel zone, so I could experience what Mexico really was.

I scoped out Hostel Moloch and was amazed, it was a gem in the city, beautifully maintained ...
