... completed our well overdue washing. Did some shopping and then visited the Greek amphitheatre which was beautiful and it is still being used for concerts today. Had a Pizza for lunch and back to the room for a rest. Went into town around dinner time and found a Restaurant and went downstairs, we were the only ones there, sitting quietly waiting for food, when Jenny was first to spot a large rat making its way across the dining room. ... It then took me an hour walking around the town asking different people and having to go back to the vets to find the pharmacy to get the prescription - yes the pharmacy where we would get medicine for ourselves also sell the dog medicine - after 3 pharmacies I got it !!! Tia's eye looks better after one dose so sure will be better ...

... at the entrance at 9:00 when it opens because like all the sites, it is swarmed in the afternoons. We were among the first 10 people to enter the theatre. The views from above out toward the Mediterranean were terrific. Apparently the Greeks used the sea and sky for backgrounds and the Romans added arches and pillars that obstructed the view. ... of us voted to go back to the freeway. Gary's GPS gave up on us. We circled back along through the towns by the waterfront...I mean we could see the ferries, but could not find how to get to the dock. finally Gary spied a faded and weather beaten sign which had both port and tourista on it so we drove down and onto the dock, bought our €40 ticket for car and four passengers, rolled on, third from last car.

... Ancient Greek Theatre ruins with the most incredible view of Mt Etna. Many famous people have visited Taormina I discovered - DH Lawrence wrote "Lady Chatterley's Lover" here and Tenessee Williams stayed here. Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor and many famous movie stars visited back in the '60s. In more recent times a movie festival is held in Taormina each year. However I did not see any celebratories during our stay! J
