Everyone is so welcoming in the Pro Shops and anyone can walk down & watch play on #18 at the Links, we were very surprised. (Quite a difference from Sawgrass in Florida, they wouldn't let us inside the gate until a couple hours before our tee time). I guess that is why we felt we did not have to play to enjoy ...

... minutes later I heard it again, to the left of us but still fairly far away, but the low growl made me feel very uncomfortable. Because it had moved and because Ben did not hear what it was, and claimed he couldn't hear it clearly that time. Ten minutes later we heard it and Ben's first comment was 'That sounds close'.

... in the "valet parking" area. It was not monitored by anyone. They probably thought no one would be nervy enough to park there. They haven't met Bob!

We asked about green fees and were told the regular rate was $495 a round. Also, you need to get a caddy which is another $150. We declined when asked if we wanted to book a tee time.

Instead, we headed to Monterey Pines ...

... we had the bar to ourselves as we watched the first pitch thrown of the 2013 world series. We did leave the warmth of the bar to go and see the famous Monterey Wharf. The wharf is covered in restaurants and souvenier shops. The unique thing a out each restaurant is that they try an intice you inside by free offerings of their clam chowder.
