First Impressions
Eventually I arrived in Naples just on dark. Stepping out of the train station there was defiantly a dingy tinge to the place, it looked run down and a bit derelict, there was a lot of rubbish on the ground and few unsavory characters hanging around. ... Museum. The metro was exceedingly busy, mainly due to a couple of delays, so I was glad that I was only going one stop! Naples has very few metro lines, for the same reason that Rome only has two - every time they try and build another one they uncover another ancient ruin and then the archaeologists get called in and the cost balloons out. ... turns, we arrived at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli – to find that it is undergoing massive renovations; we were warned that many exhibits are closed. We purchased entry tickets anyway and were very glad that we did. Most of what we wanted to see was still accessible.
