The following day loomed bright and beautiful. Milly had been regaling us with stories of hot chocolate and churros so we went in search of them – to no avail, but we did find that overnight a huge market had set up along the waterfront in L’Escala. ... with the amazing view of the swimming pool only a few metres from the French doors of the unit with the sea only a little way beyond that. Stunning!

We decided to reorganize our luggage and pack only enough for the night away and leave the remainder in the room so there would be more room for Chris & Milly’s bags in the car. Things couldn’t have worked out better! It looked like our stay in L’Escala would be a real relaxing break.

... and also you can do a lot of activities. So we thought that we could speak about our surroundings that we know very well and perhaps that can help the people who wants to visit our region.

Words really aren't enough to describe this different kind of reality I encountered on this trip. See pictures below-it was wonderful. And the few French people I met (the waitress....) did not seem to hate me, which is always nice.

is the Col De Tourmalet (2115m), a mountain climb which needs no introduction. After a bit of
souvenir shopping at the top (where there is also a great café with some interesting Tour de
France artefacts), we descend to St Marie De Campan, and from here to our hotel in Campan.

WHAT I EXPERIENCED:

Oh well, onwards and upwards, literally.

Today is day 47 of the trek and there are 50 in total. I haven't had a rest day as yet and am feeling strong and fit enough to keep going. Hope to enjoy a few days on the beach before flying back on the 16th.

I take a bus to Tossa de Mar, a small beach resort on the way to France. It is along the Costa Brava where the hills meet the coast making for some dramatic landscape. ... beginning. We made to Ripoll in good shape then I headed us out of town in the wrong direction. After a quick correction we were back into another small climb and then a long descent into Olot which was to be our end for today.
