Rafael, the owner is great. We did a little work in the school and then set off on a trek. Paths, through beautiful spanish countryside, with the occasional off-piste trek making our own paths through the woods. (It was more of on top and in the trees rather than through.) We had to get on the road by 10am this morning for a couple of reasons. We wanted enough time to see Dali's home town of Figueres, wait for Barcelona's traffic to ease and make it to our next stop back in France at Collioure. Phil, Sophie and Sue visited the Arab baths built in 1194 and we all then walked along the path that is called St Christopher's Way taking many photos. We all thought the city was very pretty and well worth the visit.
The spanish do speak very quickly but we have been getting by with Sue knowing some Spanish and Phil with his Italian which has similar words.
... AVE high speed train. It goes 300 km an hour and get you there in 90 minutes. It was so fun that we did an AVE-inspired day trip to Cordoba. That was three AVE hours -- but it was a lovely way to see a place we might have otherwise missed. We also had an interesting outing to the closest wine district in Requena, courtesy of our friend (and Henry's art teacher) Jenni.
