    Odd seas but perfect anchorages

... day. We'd hoped to sail our way up the ria, but the wind was well and truly dead, so we chugged along slowly and admired the scenery.

We were heading under an enormous bridge to the Enseņada de San Simon, a large bay too shallow for most boats to navigate, but being a very shallow boat ourselves this wasn't a problem. After trundling about for a while trying to find the best spot, we anchored up at one end, houses ...

From the camping there is a bus that goes to Pontevedra, so we'll take that tomorrow morning. We got organized and after a good big shower walked 10 min to the little village, beach and boulevard with lots if café's and terraces. We had a drink there and did a little of Internet and than went for a small walk around the fisher's port where the woman were repairing the nets. Than we walked back and read until it was time for dinner which we had in the ...

... just as I'd got out of the water, we spotted a dolphin in the anchorage! Hoorah! we cried and dived for the camera, soon spotting perhaps five or six more dotted about between the boats. As we watched, they came closer and closer, until they were only a few feet away from the boat, and I was cursing myself for having left the water when I did. Everyone on the boats around us was on deck watching the display, all of us enchanted no matter how ...

We've rather slowed down since I last updated this; the sun's come out and the days have become lazier.

We spent a few days in Muros and the ria around it, stopping in at Portosin for a couple of days before heading back to our previous anchorage, where An Incredible Thing happened.

I was out in the kayak exploring the nearby shallows, where the sun was dancing enticingly on the sand just below the water. I was on my way back to the boat when I saw ...

Pontevedra, situated on the north west of the Iberian Peninsula in part of the area popularly known as the Rias Baixas, is the capital of both the Comarca and Galicia. I would have to say this was one of the friendliest placest I have visited. Everyone from the taxi driver who helped me with my luggage to the hotel staff, people in shops, waiters and even buskers were up for a chat. I stayed in a lovely boutique hotel furnished with an ...
