Here Vigo, here Vigo!
... with a small pine forest inside. Neil & Valerie have a better head for heights than us and walk along the battlements for a while. The port is very quaint and there are lots of small shops and cafes, the shops are mainly closed as it is Sunday but we have a coffee and small tapas at La Boqueria which is a must to revisit as the meals being served to the wholly Spanish clientele looked wonderful and smelt even better.

Yellow paint and oysters
... no barriers or handrails to stop the foolish from falling over.Hurrah! Long live the Spanish.
It may, however, be prudent to buy shares in yellow paint as I guess they will be overtaken by the same extreme nanny state as the rest of us ere long.
Shame.
Wandering round Vigo, we headed towards the old quarter, having first found the Merman, who is central and like their emblem.
The little alleyways with the cobbles are very pretty ...
Smoke and mirrors
... which we posted and boarded the plane.
Vigo was dry as we landed in the sunset, and sped into the old town by taxi.
The hotel we had chosen is modern and funky. All black corridors, mirrors and coloured lights in corners. The room itself is lovely apart from the smell left after they have tried to rid it of the smell of smoke...
But all very exciting.... so now to explore!

A nice small city by the sea
... states" through this door came the pilgrims from Portugal on their way to Santiago". I'd met a few pilgrims walking the Portuguese way from Lisbon , O Porto and from Tui, which is at the border.
Tomorrow I'll leave Santiago back to Madrid and then on Friday home.
