    ... places to eat. Lucy was hungry again. Oh dear. Luckily we didn't stop at one of the restaurants along the canal and walked further where we stumbled upon a large open air market.     ... had to make our train reservations for my return to Geneva that night and Em's continued journey on to Florence. True to Italian stereotypes, the train station was difficult to navigate. Signs were contradictory, misleading, or altogether missing, and when we finally reached Information, we didn't actually realize it - instead of being labeled "Informazioni" as the signs were, it was headed with something else entirely (if my memory serves correctly, it was "Biglietto" or "Ticket" ...

    I persuaded Ben to join me on a walk around this beautiful seaside town at 630am with a lot of effort. Up until then he had not left the hotel. I took him up to the city walls and then back down to the square and then up to the church and back down to the water. (Idea is to set off and go fast enough for him not to argue.
