... Focaccia! They can't get it out of the ovens fast enough and I leave with two lovely big pieces, piping hot. We find a bench on the sea front to eat it, along with some of the tomatoes we've just bought in the market. Street food. The best, and relatively cheap to boot. Back at Riomaggiore, we enjoyed a late dinner down on the waterfront with the American couple who calculate they have spent five years in Europe over the years, amassed with short trips, apart from one 6-month sojourn. I had clam pasta and it was delicious, just like the first time I had tried it as a teenager on a family holiday in Australia. It was a fun evening. (Sande, if you manage to read this online, well done; Ken, I hope it’s not too boring).
