    Riding the Cinque Terre Trains!

    ... was delayed about 15 minutes and then a train came at about the right time and hundreds of walkers piled on, including us, but David not wanting to!

    Then our train sails past all the stations going in the other direction. Eventually we stopped at the first village and David set off from there to do the hardest walk from Monterooso to Vernazza and then on to Cornigilla which is set at the top of a hill and the only village not on the sea.

    ... upon a little stream, took some artsy photos, then took a side track that seemed to lead up to the top of the mountain, but it actually led to an enclosed rock formation that has an attached rope to assist people getting in and out of it. We thought maybe it continued up the other side, but it was so steep and overgrown with brambles that we decided not to chance it. We returned to the main track, crossed a little bridge, and came out the other side ...

    ... swimmers, sun bakers and the ferries returning from a day out, all within the beautiful landscape of the hills, the water and the pretty town.

    ... the time you parked. Blue markings mean you have to pay at a machine and display a ticket, yellow are reserved for residents only so are a no no for us tourists. The place we found is a new car park which has yellow and blue markings but has no machines to buy a ticket yet so you park free!

    ... tide. It was now nearly 8 pm and with a 2-hr train ride +30 min bus in Genoa to go, I couldn’t wait to get home.
