      Desolate edge

... still relatively empty and at points right on the edge of a coastal cliff. The sun was setting behind me to the right, over the sea, but in front it was even more spectacular covered in the deepest pink. I felt like I was on the edge of the world, and adding to this perhaps was the fact I was really enjoying listening to 'Search for the sunrise' by Yes, progressive rock from the 1970s ...

I am sure you are all jealous of my posts about the wonderful weather I have been having while beach hopping down the coast of Spain. Well, yesterday it all went downhill rather quickly and rather severely! After spending 2 nights at a stop on the beach, I decided to move off in order to make some ground closer to tarifa which will be my most southerly stop before heading back north. The drive took me through the mountains of Spain and I noticed things starting to get a little windy. ...

A travel blog entry by sophistikitty on Sep 18, 2014

The next day was even worse on the anchorage front. We were planning on having a fairly short day, so we left late, only to find that the spot we'd selected was right behind a headland with 20 knots of wind gusting around it, straight into us.

This was clearly unsuitable, but the nearest marina was 26 miles away and we'd struggle to get there before dark. Still, we ...

We did our own walking tour today in Almeria, Spain which consisted of touring the Alcazaba fortress which is one of the biggest fortresses ever built by the Arabs in Spain. We walked the downtown and harbour areas returning to the ship for sail-away at 4:00 pm. +30 again today so tried to soak it all up!
