Another yummy breakfast this morning before hitting the road out of Chicago. Will be traveling through 3 States today: Illinois, Indiana & Ohio. Have spent a small fortune on tolls going the route we are, but it's the most direct way to drive.
For lunch (a late lunch as there was another time change!) we stopped at our first Cracker Barrel restaurant (our families very favourite over ...
Made it through Pennsylvania by dinnertime...staying in Youngstown, Ohio ad doing Math with Mara, bathtime with girlies...off to Indianapolis tomorrow. We'll stay there with my friend Laura. Song of the Day...Lovegame..you should see Dessa dance to this one. A total crackup.
... showing the coming storms for the afternoon. I rode alone and was in long before the luggage made it so I went swimming in the indoor pool ( lots of them in these northern hotels) the water had to be 85 or better it was like a hot tub! It is strange that today was a light day we only climbed 4,000 feet and the mileage was only 93. Before the trip that would have been an epic! Almost time for route rap, and dinner!
Youngstown, Ohio, United States bot989... for lunch at Sara’s Diner. The food isn’t anything special, but the atmosphere is cool. It’s like going back to the 70’s. Actually, it looks like the place has been there since the 70’s and nothing has been changed, right down to the music they play.
Berlin Center, Ohio, United States wcarver... today. I’ve been wanting to go for some years now since I read about it. It was worth the $22 admission and $7 parking. It has everything you can imagine to do with rock, from the invention of the first record in the 1880’s to the death of Michael Jackson. There are guitars, amps, clothes, cars, motorcycles, etc. that were owned by various entertainers.
Berlin Center, Ohio, United States wcarver... think the only empty slot in the whole place was mine. Maybe by Sunday afternoon things will calm down a little. I liked my private spot on the side of the road last night better.
I considered just heading out looking for a boon dock, but I’ve driven almost 500 miles today. That’s enough.
We finally got to the hotel. It's a quaint little hotel off of interstate 76 east. The rooms are a good size and for a good value. Not to mention the AAA member discount. Word to the wise: AAA rocks if you travel a lot. You get free maps, tour books, trip tiks (if you like paper ...
Kent, Ohio, United States breezyfreshI had a wonderful time with all my old friends from Hiram. The college looks amazing with so many new buildings and renvations! I really missed everyone and it was great to see them. Gabi & Bri spent one last lazy day at home before we hit the road at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

This is about a trip that hasn't happened yet. About August of 2009 I will ride my BMW k75 from home (Cortland, Ohio) to Connecticut and then upward to Maine and then down the east coast to Florida. Connecticut to vist the Mystic Seaport Museum which I haven't seen since about 1959, Main just because and Florida to visit oldest daughter and grandkids. I may stop off somewhere to visit an aircraft carrier if I can find one.
Cortland, Ohio, United States beemerHey everyone, In regards to my last post, if you are going to send me mail they highly recommend that letters are sent via airmail. Do not send packages because they will often times be held up in customs, and I will not get them. But I would love a postcard, letter, or just an e-mail to keep up with all of you. I just wanted to write a quick blurb to let you know how crazy it has been to pack. If anyone has ...
