... and by time we arrived at the refuge, we could just barely glimpse the Pyrenees Mountains. We arrived at our destination before noon, despite our late departure of 8am. The refuge was not so much a refuge as it was the party room in the city hall. There were cots and two tables, and enough open room to play basketball. Unfortunately for us, there was nothing to do in the refuge nor in the very small town. There wasn’t even wifi. We had a lot ...

    Day 44-

We started off together as three today with plans to walk 15km. My pace was still slower than usual, but much better than the previous few days. I walked with the teacher for most of the day while the architect walked ahead and waited for us to catch up at certain points. It was a beautiful day today with the promise to be quite hot in the afternoon. However, the morning walk was nice.

... my injury. I am mad at myself for not taking better care of my body and embarrassed that I was unable to maintain the pace at which I wished to walk. At this point, the teacher came in to talk to me. He told me that there was no way that they would be leaving me behind and that we would continue to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port as three. I told him that he had no obligation to me, and he said that they would not leave me. He said that all that matters ...

    Day 40-

I woke up today feeling not feeling quite right after the meal last night. The hiking would have been quite good had it not been for that. We diverted from the road to take a more interesting trail, and it wound around a lake and up and down through hunting grounds. It was very beautiful and very muddy.

We stopped in Bazas for lunch, to eat at a local restaurant. This restaurant was pretty terrible, ...
