Inside the town walls with its narrow cobbled streets lined with ancient houses, some built of stone and others half-timbered-houses, there are pretty squares and arches dating from the 13th to 19th centuries. In total there are 78 classified historic monuments in the town including the 15th century church of Notre Dame and the 17th century Town Hall. We have been enjoying our days of riding this canal. It is relaxing moseying along and taking in the pleasant scenery of the avenues of trees, the meadows and the variety of 'Maisons des Ecluseries' many of which have a lot of character and charm.
