... leaving the cathedral, we took a walking tour of the streets. The Christmas Market was in full swing, so we had a small pretzel each … and a glass of hot wine, which was very much appreciated in the cold weather (particularly because of the breeze, today was a lot colder than previously). Other sites in the town include a 3rd Century Roman triumphal arch, which we walked through.

We then returned to the hotel to rest before our big dinner tonight at ...

We emerged from the hotel soon after 08:00 this morning - the tandems (and solo bike) were duly extracted from the little lock-up within the hotel garage and we were away. Soon the route took us onto a canal towpath and this was a theme for a good part of the day. The main section of towpath for us was the section through Reims ...

... a third Gothic Cathedral for the day. We just had a very nice meal out al fresco opposite the cathedral. Could have been very touristy, but not here in this quiet, smaller hilltop town. The "menu" (ie the fixed price, fixed selection) is attached with pics of the dishes just to make you jealous. That rum baba in a glass, floating in white rum, infused with vanilla pods, added at the table, was ...

One Fantastic Cathedral but the Parking was Tough!

Reims, to me, was like a miniature Paris, but with way less people. There were tres chic shops and people still bustling about getting on with their lives. However, getting into the city and locating parking for our camper van was way ore challenging than we expected! No offense to Rick Steve's but he needs to have Joe write the directions sections of his books; his customers would be a lot happier! Once ...
