Birthday in Versailles, France

... Montparnasse to dine. I was determined to try a few items that I associate with France -- French fries (of course) and quiche.  Both were delicious, as was Michael's salmon.  For dessert, the birthday boy had rum raisin and raspberry sorbet (yummy) and I tried the apple tart. Let me just say that the French have nothing on grandma's or my(Anita's) homemade apple pie!  We've got them beat hands down with that one!

"Gay" Paris

... and I noticed that primarily it is monochromatic... nearly all the buildings are a cream/grey colour, it makes for a great vista. We had to queue again to get down to level 2 where I felt the view was probably better than at the top (you can see so much more detail) and then we descended via many stairs via level one to the bottom. By this time it was getting dark and the tower was bathed in a beautiful purple hue. Charlie chose a restaurant from Nick's book but when we got ...

We'll always have Paris...

... and so many lovely ways of presenting sugar. The chocolate displays offer every brand and kind of chocolate known to mankind; the "American chocolates" -- candy bars, Hershey and the like -- are of course in a completely different area, labeled "Barres Chocolatées", which does not have the same cachet as the simple but honest "Chocolat". The bread counter smelled divine, and the fish counter at the back was the host of several beautiful fresh pieces of salmon, tuna and ...

To Paris We Go

I was once again forced to get up early, early being 8:30. At least that was an improvement over some of the previous days =) Anyway, I got ready really fast (fast for me) and packed all my clothes and stuff into my bags. I was so rushed that I was unable to do my hair which meant that it looked retarded for the entire day. Just thought I'd put that out there. We were out of the horribly decorated apartment and into a cab by 10. I, being the genius I am, forgot to eat ...

The Crash

... upon Recomendation of Chris Peck: We were much too hungry, so we went to the Latin quarter and had a meal. We started with the best veggie platter in the world. Exactly what we needed. THree hours, a few beers and a full meal later we checked out the Notre Dame. It was dark by this time but very impressive. As we walked closer to the cathedral, there were massive cheering and a huge group of people congregated in front of the building. Naturally we had to check it out ...

Shopping Le Printemps

Express train to Paris!

... atmosphere were very enjoyable, and we left feeling very satisfied. As we walked back down the Champs-Elysees, seeing the Arc de Triomphe lit up for the night, we stopped once again for a last glass of wine. I couldn't believe it was already 9:45, because it was still very light outside! We sat and watched traffic whizzing along and, people walking by, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells before heading back to the hotel and a good night's rest.

... that we would drop it off on the 23rd when they could fix it!! It was very very funny and all seven staff were in the room trying to translate to us and all were thankfully seeing the funny side of it!! As we left we gave them some hats and beanies with Australia on it and they were all trying them on saying ooohhh "Australie" because we thing they thought we were British!! Next we found our way into the heart of Paris (through a series of tunnels and we were wondering which one ...

... Da Vinci Code" audioguide and listen to about 20 different artworks that appear in the book. The regular audioguide rental, btw, costs 4 euro. Now I have to read the book again. I don't remember anything, since it's a ****** book, but now I'm curious! Well. Now to the Mona Lisa, AKA La Gioconda. For me it's a very pesonal experience. She is not the most beautiful woman in the world. But she's there not for her outer beauty. I can just say that she makes ...

Trip with Missy

... quarters, I had no issue snapping the strings, baby! I hate it when people do it to me, but it's fun to see the look on their face when they turn around-they like it! I am DEFINITELY taking Tina and Kerry here. Hehe! Cedrick, Joseph and Steve met us here, and we finally left to go to a club cause all Missy wanted to do on her last night was DRINK AND DANCE. So that's what we were out to do. On a previous night we were denied entry into the gay club on the Champs, so we ...
