The rest of the time we spent wandering around Epernay, popping into Champagne bars, eating nice food, looking at the buildings etc. We didn't even get to Reims as we loved this place so much. Oh well, I guess we'll have to come back again - perhaps in summer next time. This stop was a very unexpected highlight and has certainly cemented France as our favourite country. Next stop Bruges - its in Belgium (from the movie In Bruges).
... abroad, for four months Angers, was completely different. That doesn't mean I don't miss being home, but I am not pretty much constantly missing home and being sad. Thanks to this, I have been up for more adventures here. So far I have visited several different cities around my area and have even went to London and Krakow, Poland. I expect more adventures and excursions to come, so look out for my upcoming posts!
After a disappointing day yesterday, we decided to target Epernay, a place we've been before on a previous trip, but one which we enjoyed.
The fact that it is quite close to our previous stop was an added attraction, and we were here and set-up by noon.
The people at the Reception were amazingly friendly and helpful, willingly spoke excellent English, and then admitted that they had spent time in Brisbane before.... They even added a couple ...
... brat this evening) we settled for a disco looking brasserie complete with fluro purple flashing lights (yes... Times were tough) but a nice outdoor area. A lovely drink was had and a round of Monopoly Deal ... Only to find that they serve food on Fridays only. At this stage today felt pretty hard (in reflection we were whining about too much sun, the heat and having difficulty finding champagne houses and food, so not your traditional definition of hard). Attempt number two ...
