    Cannes and craziness

... task was getting out of Cannes and this turned out to be quite difficult. As we left the car park, the GPS was telling us to go places that I was sure was taking us in the wrong direction. Eventually we realised that it was taking us back to our "go-via" point - so yes - we went around in circles a couple of times. The fading out issue also didn't help.  We had about 180klm to go in this last section and let me tell you - the drivers in France are crazy. They are travelling ...

This morning we have arrived in a new destination. Although Roisin and I have been to France many times before, we have never visited Cannes, on the French Riviera. We camped out there all day. We made some dinner and had an early night. Today we went to Monaco !!! You can just feel the expensive nature as soon as you walk off the train because the hallways are made of mirrors and marble. We ...

... my favourite Macaron cafe Laduree and completed the afternoon with a one hour river cruise along the Seine, soaking up the sights of Paris one last time. That evening Imogen made a beautiful mushroom risotto, accompanied by one last glass of Rosé. I gathered my washing and packed my bags, thanked my hosts for everything and settled in for the night. Feeling excited about my New York adventure that awaited me the next day, I couldn't help ...

Well, can I confidently say "Oui, je parle francais" after these two weeks? More like, "je parle francais in peu" which means a little, or "je ne parle francais bien" which means I don't speak it well. I can say that I feel like I am back to the place I was when I studied French for a few years in college, which is at an intermediate level. I read and write pretty well, ...
