Aerodrome de Cannes Mandelieu, La Bocca Cannes, French Riviera - Cote d'Azur, Provence, France, 06150 , 4-9348-6941
We drove up through Girona yesterday and left Spain, me with tears in my eyes. I had such a nice time and it's hard to leave it all so quickly. Into the rich coast of the French Riviera we went, the Cote d'Azur with an overnight stop in Cannes. 95% of the places JM thinks of going to in the world have to do with cars or movies or a cool scene in a movie involving cars. For example, in Thailand, we'll be making a stop at the craggy coastline of Krabi, simply because of a scene that JM's been d...

After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!
Menton, Provence, France darrenhough74... and not campervan parking friendly. We found a picture perfect stop just after Monte Carlo at the top of a hill overlooking the Med. We had the place to ourselves so we russelled up some brekkie in the sun which was lovely, so much so we were in t-shirts!!!
Monte-Carlo, Monaco darrenhough74... seen and spoken to, to date.
Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...
Grasse, Provence, France darrenhough74... the wonderful "fun" and "vitamin" radio stations to keep us entertained with "Evacuate the Dancefloor" and 3 other dance songs that they kept repeating.

http://picasaweb.goog le.com/Jonny.D.Lawrence/20090928Cannes? authkey=Gv1sRgCPHzqZ_hy_fA8AE&feat= directlink
Cannes, Provence, France sofenjonBonjour! Today we arrive at Monaco! A district of royalty and affluence! The home of Prince's and Princesses! An area visited by many Prince's and Princesses as well as celebrities, millionaires and billionaires! It's a place to see and be seen! It's a location where wealth is a necessity and sophistication is a requirement!

Also today, Elsie celebrates a birthday! Her 60th! That little girl born on ...
Monte-Carlo, Monaco ricknelsie... blasting advertising! Can you believe it? There must be a law here that limits the amount of advertising trash one can put up to uglyfie the community view. There were some standardized small black and white grouped signs for fuel along the road. Four of five stations were listed neatly and the fuel prices next to them. Black and white, all in a list, all neat and tidy. Buildings also we much more tastefully displayed that back home. I am afraid we opened a can ...
Cannes, Provence, France thomasgillam... did... it was called- Die tote Stadt, meaning- The Dead City in German), but it was bazaar! There was a man obsessed over a lady who looked like his dead wife (my very basic and simplistic summary after not even making it through the first of three acts). Our spots were just as good as the 200 Euro seats, other than the fact that we were sitting. We each had our own little screen that translated the opera and having only paid 4 Euros for our tickets, it was more than ...
Cannes, France ross26greenAnd, of course, we visited Cannes that evening. And I can tell you that it is not something special. If you have to choose between Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo, one thing is for shure: don't go to Cannes. All you can see there is Red Carpet and maybe to take a picture of that ...
Cannes, France jelenamaric... the other day, and my teacher went around asking everyone their birthdays so we could practice saying the date "right." Well when she heard me say "le premier novembre" which is how they say November first, she excitedly informed me we don't have class that day. Apparently my birthday--which is also All Saints' Day--is a national holiday in France! I couldn't have asked for a better present. Another difference that led to a huge discussion in class is driving age. Almost ...
