Tuesday was a travel day. We packed up our things and said goodbye to Blaye. We then drove to Bordeaux airport and we gave back our hire car. On the way we said goodbye to the Gironde Estuary. Then we got a bus to the train station and caught a train to Paris. On the train, Ben and Jon had lots of snacks including some chocolate sticks and biscuits. Ben and Jon also drew some pictures. Unfortunately our train to Paris arrived late ...

... sans sauce which confuses the server no end (“But our sauces are good!”). I opt once more for the large dollop of ketchup. I like a country where chips are one of your five a day (along with beer, mussels, waffles and chocolate).

Grand-Place is much quieter tonight; the long weekend is over and restaurants and bars are packing up their tables and closing their doors. The 1€ waffle shops are still doing a roaring ...

... fruit. The chocolates were delicious and different. On one small narrow street there were 6 choc stores and 2 souvenir shops! How often do you see that? Farmers Markets: we were lucky enough to be in town for three. The first two were almost all food and flowers and the third hand crafted jewelry. Everyone needs to spend a Sunday within the confines of central Brussels. The 50,000 plus people that were here last night have turned up again and some. Fine and bright again, shorts weather. A footnote: I forgot to mention that on arrival to the city yesterday coming up the stairs from the train station John with his hands full carrying his back pack had a pickpocket made an attempt at his pride and joy getting a zip on his pocket half way before John brushed him ...
